Quest Announces Updated Cloud-Based Migration Solutions to MIcrosoft 365 and Hosted Exchange
April 30, 2012
Quest Software, Inc. has announced Quest OnDemand Migration for Email, which simplifies migration to Microsoft Office 365 and hosted Exchange with a cloud-based migration solution built on Microsoft’s Azure platform. The solution is a fit for both organizations and managed service providers (MSPs) seeking to migrate their customers to a hosted platform.
The newly enhanced Coexistence Manager for GroupWise was also announced, further simplifying migration to Microsoft Office 365 and hosted Microsoft Exchange from a number of platforms by supporting GroupWise 7. The enhanced version of Quest’s solution offers true coexistence between GroupWise 7 and Exchange 2010 or Office 365, as well as GroupWise 2012 coexistence support for Novell customers who have moved to the latest version of GroupWise.
The company offers a broad suite of migration and coexistence solutions designed to eliminate and minimize the risk of email migration projects. Offerings ensure business continuity so that users who have migrated may continue to communicate and collaborate with those who have not yet migrated.
GroupWise Migrator for Exchange will also be made available later this quarter, offering several enhancements to reduce interruptions to business productivity. The new version will enable recurring meetings created in GroupWise to be migrated and will allow resource creation within Active Directory during a migration to Exchange.
Quest supports more than 30 million mailboxes and users as well as migration from a number of platforms including Lotus Notes, Google, Novell GroupWise and on-premises Exchange. The company’s offerings aim to eliminate risk and reduce costs so IT departments may accomplish migrations without stress and on time and on budget, with minimum disruptions to their business.
Coca-Cola Bottling Company United recently migrated 1,200 users from Lotus Notes to Office 365 using a Quest-based solution. They partnered with Quest Premier partner InfraScience as well as Microsoft Corp. to perform the migration as part of a strategy to modernize their environment, reduce IT costs and increase collaboration among workers. A total of 1,200 large mailboxes with 250,000 contacts and more than two TBs of data were migrated to Microsoft Office 365 using Quest’s solutions.
“The combination of the InfraScience team and Quest’s migration solutions enabled us to exceed expectations in terms of ensuring a fast, cost-effective migration that was easy and painless for our users,” said Mike Neighbors, vice president of information technology for Coca-Cola Bottling Company United. “We not only accomplished our top goals, but also achieved an annual cost savings of at least 15 percent, including conversion costs, when compared to the cost of running our previous Lotus Notes environment.”
“Upgrading to Office 365 or hosted Exchange can realize significant financial benefits for an organization, including a reduction in IT expense, enhanced infrastructure reliability, and simplified systems management,” Steve Dickson, senior vice president and general manager, Windows Server Management, Quest Software added. “As more and more IT executives recognize these benefits, and cloud migration becomes a higher priority for their organizations, they can continue to turn to Quest and our market-leading solutions to simplify and streamline the migration process. These organizations can also leverage our deep migration experience and proven methodologies to help their IT organizations mitigate the risk to their migration projects.”
