Ctrip is the largest online Chinese travel reservation site with 50 million registered members and growing. Ctrip allow members to do hotel reservations, flight ticketing, tour packages and even corporate trips. Therefore, the company was bound to look for ways to improve efficiency and cost the customer and the company.

Because business is growing so fast, Ctrip.com had to organize a 24 hour SIP (Session Initiation Protocol (News Alert)) to serve the globe with costumer reservations. This means that the company implemented a new IP infrastructure that includes SIP trunking. SIP trunk allows companies to replace traditional phone lines with internet service provider at significant cost-savings while improving security and quality issues.

SIP trunking provides Ctrip with a more flexible and cost effective alternative to traditional TDM (time division multiplexing) trunks or PSTN (public switched telephone network) origination/termination or routing of telephone calls.

Ctrip saw the need to secure its growing business with Acme Packet (News Alert). Acme Packet allows service providers to deal better with challenges with IP delivery of data, voice and video services. The family product of Acme Packet, Net-Net offers multiple mobile, cloud, network and applications services at a reduced cost.

SIP trunking service offers security and quality issues for businesses with poor customer service such as frequent outages for the customer and financial loss for the company. Such problems are due to the fact that digital conventional IP network’s firewalls, routers and gateways were not built for IP communications and leaves SIP contact centers with security and quality issues.

What Acme Packet does is improve efficiency for SIP trunking integrations as well as protecting, and controlling SIP trunking borders which improves service quality while overcoming challenges that companies encounter when implementing communication infrastructure services such as SIP. Acme Packet Net-Net allows Ctrip to benefit from SIP trunk telephony service provider without sacrificing quality, service integrity or customer satisfaction.
